Platos Closet - The same guy that turned down my high end clothes turned down almost mint...

I wasnt going to say anything .but i cant help it now...I brought over 65 pair of jeans..over 65 pairs..just so yiu can get the idea.. and other things..high end brand names no generic..no shein..no old navy. No *** name brands from dollar general...all very nice ...high end brands ..like Ralph Lauren...banana republic..nike Adidas..Victoria secrets . Miss me..vigos..CanCan...just name a very few..and you turned them ALL away..sayingits not wat the kids are wearing?? ..i bring you a pair of steve madden silver studded brown suede ankle boots...wore on time mint condition..he turned them down..the same guy that turned down all my other cloths...some of which I purchased right in your store and you turned them all away ..most i only had 4 or months...most not even wore also most still have tags on them..and you turned them all down.. I have bought thousands of dollars worth of clothing in one single purchase..3 or 4 times...1 of my receipts even graced your Facebook page...I am done with you guys ill never spend a dime there again...the long haired white guy is smart ass...basically said I'm my Steve Madden boots i just bought over the spring.$142 dollars..are not up to date with what the younger kids are wearing??? He's not even young hes has to be in his mid 30s? He looks older than i do ...Surly...

I ve seen what's for sale there some old news garbage ...just down right ugly..more like...fugly.

The owner need keep his eyes on this one..making deals with cute girls...but turning away high end brand names...probably because he knows and dislikes my son what a idiot...its some *** Ill tell anyone who asks..stay away from platos in kokomo..ill take them some where else id donate them to ppl in *** before your get your Di@k skinners on them...and so should you. .

BY THE WAY YOU DONT CHARGE SEPARATE PRICES FOR A MATCHING 2 PIECE SET OUTFIT...THEY WHERE MADE TOGETHER...AS ONE 2 PIECE SET.. MATCHING PANTS AND TOP...FREAKING DUM ASSES..FREAKING IDIOTS

Charged me SEPARATE prices for a matching 2 piece set of clothes outfit ..who does that??? literally 2 separate prices one for the shirt one for the matching bottoms...thats why you cant sell anything in that store..thats why ppl with nice cloths stopped coming there...thats why all jeans looks like something a homeless *** wore..all dirty stained and nasty ..the store is literally full of *** apparel.. it should read on the sign ..CRACK HEADS ARE US!

I have a complaint

I went to Plato's Closet in Scottsdale on Friday, November 21st, to sell clothing items. I got a message to come back as my clothes were done.

Once I returned, the vibe was off; all the employees were rude, laughing at my account, claiming they couldn't help me. I was passed off to different employees before receiving help. Then the manager came out. I asked if my account was flagged because of how I was being treated.

She let me know it was from an honest review of my first experience with their company, which I thought was resolved because I spoke with that same manager for my first complaint. So, I was upset and embarrassed that they would flag my account. I was frustrated expressing my feelings; the manager then got in my face and threw my clothes at me, telling me to leave her store as if I was being problematic. I grabbed my belongings as she taunted me out of the store, calling the police.

I remained calm and made a video of her actions. I am so upset that the owner has not reached out, and I can't contact anyone from corporate to voice my concern. So, I made another TikTok video that has now gone viral, and there have been many customers with the same complaints about this company as well.

My video has reached over 100k viewers. I'm very upset, and I do not recommend this store to anyone, as I feel they have some type of racism in place.

Lodge a formal complaint

Attention corporate manager of Plato's Closet

I would like to lodge a formal complaint against the Grand Prairie, Alberta location.

I'm requesting that my client account in Grand Prairie, Alberta be reactivated and that I am able to sell there again.

I went in after having a bad day and admit I had a short fuse, but given my circumstances, anyone would.

So, I should have been informed by the store manager over a phone call; that would have been the right thing to do.

But instead, I brought all my things in again to sell and the employee very boisterously informed me after I brought all my bags in, loud enough that the whole store heard and customers were laughing under their breath.

I was appalled to hear that I was red-flagged and cannot sell there anymore.

How embarrassing that was, me already dealing with a great deal of stress. Oh, and by the way, I started a GoFundMe page; that's how bad it is—I'm living out of my vehicle for over 4 months now.

This is not any way to run a business.

Coming from a retail management background prior to 15 years, I should have been given the chance to say what really happened, but instead, Plato's Closet in Grand Prairie decided, without both sides of the story, to take the employee's side without even speaking to me.

I am requesting that my account is reinstated, and I am sending this as a formal request to corporate to look into this matter. By the way, I'm now currently homeless, fled abuse, and am living out of my car with my animals, and can't work due to chronic pain. So, there is always another side to a story, and I never got my chance. This is such terrible business etiquette.

I was frustrated, in severe pain, and distress when I brought my clothing in.

Yes, I raised my voice, but no, I never yelled. The employee kept cutting me off, wouldn't let me finish my sentence, so I was firm.

I was not given any opportunity to defend myself from any disrespect or discrimination or any call from the manager to hear or have any conversation about this matter. I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Alana Bieber

With all due respect, I don't want to buy second-hand clothes that are kept in a car with animals. They can't possibly be in the best shape, suitable for resale.

The employee should have politely taken you aside, though I get the impression you would have raised your voice anyway.

And, just so you know, Plato's Closets are all franchises, meaning they are privately-owned. Corporate cannot make a franchise do business with you.

I bought a pocketbook and they let the tag the center tag on it

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Well, I bought a pocketbook there seven dollars. The young girl forgot to cut the alarm off.

It did not go off when I went out the door. Im 65 years old. I dont steal believe me. I dont have to.

I enjoy going to Platos closet cause it make feel young. I dont go to the mall as you know everybody doesnt anymore. I went in a couple times and asked them to take the thing off the alarm button and they refused to. They can look it up and see that I bought that I understand you dont have the color of the make of the pocketbook on the on the tag, but thats not my fault.

I did buy that there and I bought several things when Im in town I live in Watkinsville so sometimes I dont get by every day, which I would love to, but I just feel like they couldve took it off. I didnt know the girls name. I havent really seen her there that much. Shes a little short young girl and I feel like its not my fault now I got a pocketbook.

I cannot even cut it off. Ive tried. I had the original tag, but I had taken it off because I did not see the other tag with the center on there until it was too late, but I had it and I gave it to them and they said they could not do anything with it. I really feel some type of way because I live in Watkinsville Georgia and I go to Athens shopping quite a bit I take my granddaughters and I just dont see the issue of cutting the tag off.

Why would I steal a plastic fake leather bag Im not like that Ive never been arrested. I just feel some type of way. My phone number is 678-713-****.

My name is Mrs. Gates.

“They can look it up...”. Look it up how? It’s a giant secondhand flea market.

This isn't the Platos website. Write a Google business, also known as a Google maps, review and the owner may see it.

All the Plato Closets locations are privately owned. Also, there are youtube videos that show how to remove these tags.

Scammer don’t sell your items to them they lie and mispriice your items

Plato's Closet in Edison, NJ, will take your items and give you $7-10 for a brand new pair of Nike Dunks (Jordans). Good trending brands tell you they can only offer that small amount because they can't sell it for much.

You go back to the store and you will see your exact items for 10 times the price as if they were new in-store and they only give you $7-10 for brand new shoes, no matter if they are men’s or women’s; that goes for purses as well. They gave me $10 for a $300 bag, and when I went back, the bag was listed for $120.

They are mean and seem to have a preference; when my husband goes (a Black man), the managers are always mean and rude, while when I go, they are very nice and offer me more money than him for selling the same items. They always have a wait, no matter if they are busy or slow.

This place will always give the absolute least amount of amount they can, in order to maximize their profits. If you choose to continue to do business with them, that is your acceptance of how they conduct business.

If you are so adverse to it, stop going there! Sell your items on ebay or other online resell sites.

Try a local consignment shop. You have options.

Felt very Discriminated

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I am in a wheelchair due to an accident. I had a couple years ago.

So Im paraplegic. I went to Platos closet on a Sunday looking for some shorts due to needing some shorts for a procedure. I am getting in my private area. The store is so cluttered and the aisles are so small.

I was unable to fit and it was very hard to maneuver through the aisles. Every five minutes Maddie would go on the intercom and say we have 10 minutes left. We have five minutes left OK everybody come to the front and I got to the front. I spilled my drink because I was trying to not run over a dress so my drink fell.

It was literally 6:02 when I got to the register. And she said you should go ahead and come in tomorrow instead because we all want to go home. My response was Im having surgery tomorrow. I dont have time to come back.

Im sorry for wasting two minutes of your time, I understand you wanting to go home Ive worked in the medical field for five years already. I wish we had a luxury of leaving on time. I was unable to go through the items I had picked due to being 6 oclock I went ahead and bought everything except a few items even though I wanted a the few items I put back. I just didnt know what to do.

I feel so overwhelmed. Ive never felt so disrespected. Ive never felt less than a person.

I didnt get to finish shopping. I was looking at the purses while my brother was at the register dealing with them, and Maddie told me its too late to pick out any item.

So because you did not get special treatment, you feel like you were discriminated against and disrespected. They close at 6. If they made an exception for you it would be discrimination for the rest of the customers.

Guest

You were not disrespected. You were not discriminated against.

In fact, you were treated exactly like any consumer who has the arrogance and entitlement to show up near close.

Your reason for being there is not relevant, but it seems you did more than just buy a pair of shorts. And next time leave your drink at home or finish it outside.

Incident at platos closet

Hello. Today I went to the platos closet in brookfield, milwaukee and brought in two bags of clothes.

I shopped just a little bit and then went and watched them finish my bags. They had put 3 of my things to the side and then put the rest back in my bags I brought them in. They then called me up and I got my bags back, then proceeded to tell me they didnt wanna purchase anything of mine. I checked my items when I got back to my car and I was infact missing a few items.

I didnt wanna make a big deal of the situation but I will sue for theft if this isnt somehow resolved. Its very harmful if this is what they do.

Your small claims court filing fee for your locality is $31.50. Non-refundable win or lose.

Your case is weak and you will lose. You will also be on the hook for the defendant’s attorney fees.

Guest

How can you claim they put three items to the side and the rest back in the bags? Did you see this happen?

Guest

"I didnt wanna make a big deal of the situation but I will sue for theft".. yes you did.

"sue" them for what, 8.00 for your used junk?

Stop wasting your time and get on with your life. Lesson learned on your part.

Not worth the trip

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My 19 year old drove 30 minutes to donate clothes and hopefully get a little bit of money for her trendy clothes. She was told that she would have to wait 3 hours for her clothes to be sorted/returned or to get a little money for what they would take.

The other option was for her to come back in the morning. But when someone drives that far it is ridiculous to assume that they can wait 3 hours or that they want to make another trip in the morning! Since this is their business they should be able to accommodate customers whether it is 9am or 5pm!

This was at the Platos Closet in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Definitely not worth the trip or trouble!

Your daughter should have called before making the trip and asked how long it would take to look through her items. No one at that store invited her to drive 30 minutes there unannounced, so I don't know why you are so outraged.

Others no doubt had the same idea as your daughter to go at the same time with bags of clothes.

Most likely, these employees have to look up retail prices to determine what to offer in cash. I can tell you, based on other complaints I've seen, it's not much.

Terrible experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Was treated poorly at Plato's Closet Greensburg, PA, by the workers and received my items back damaged after choosing not to accept the offer. I brought multiple items in, a few pairs of shoes—all brand new, never worn, just got them a year or two ago and never wore them.

I take great care of my shoes, and they were in perfect condition, which I explained to the workers who were not only rude and dismissive but standing around gossiping. (The original worker I spoke to was not unpleasant; she seemed to be a manager, not sure though.) I get my items back thrown together, and my shoes look like they drove them over with a truck—they either wore them or just absolutely didn't take care of them at all. Although creased/worn items are not a huge deal, it is to some people, and it's extremely disheartening, especially when the items they go through possibly won't be bought and put on shelves. So now, people like me not only did not sell my things, but I got 2 pairs of $60 shoes back damaged that now I won't be able to sell to anyone for more than $10.

I will never return to a Plato's Closet again, and I will be warning friends to not go to that location as the teenagers behind the counter have no respect, and if you don't accept the lowball offers, they will just destroy your belongings. Pissed is an understatement.

Bad Service

My19 year old drove 30 minutes to drop off clothes. She was told there would be a 3 hour wait until staff could sort and return her clothes.

She was also told she should come early in the morning. This is not the typical schedule of a college student. There should be enough staff to accommodate customers. Simply ridiculous when someone has to drive a fair distance to donate clothes to hopefully get a little bit of money, and then be told she has to wait 3 hours.

She does not live in the area. She just hoped they might be able to give her more for her trendy clothes than another Platos Closet did.

Not worth a trip! This was the Platos Closet in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
